EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR/PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR

Rev.Agnes Lasetchuk, LCSW, MSC has been the Executive Director of Port Counseling Center since 1988. She is past president of the Nassau Coalition of Chemical Dependency Providers. Ms. Lasetchuk received a Bachelor's Degree from the City University of New York in Sociology in 1970 and worked in business until she entered Columbia University School of Social Work in 1977 and graduated with a Master's Degree in Social Work in 1979. Upon graduating, she was employed by the Corona-Elmhurst Guidance Center under the auspices of Catholic Charities of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn where she became the supervising Social Worker and Assistant Director. In 1983 Ms. Lasetchuk undertook a private practice for adult clients with mental health issues and was a founding member of Womenswork Seminars which provided empowerment workshops for business women. After 2 years of training at the New Seminary in New York City, she was ordained as an Interfaith Minister in 1986 with a Degree in Ministry of Spiritual Counseling (MSC). In 1985 Ms. Lasetchuk was employed by the Salvation Army of Greater New York as a Social Work Supervisor/Consultant. Then an administrative opportunity arose to become the Executive Director of Flowers With Care Youth Services in Queens in 1986; another agency affiliated with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn which provided education, social services and apprenticeships in the floral industry for runaway, delinquent and homeless youth at risk.
